Ferrari é acusada de apologia ao cigarro
As cores vermelha e branca, bem como um código de barras utilizado nos carros e nos macacões dos pilotos da equipe Ferrari são o mais novo alvo de críticas de uma organização anti-tabaco inglesa.
De acordo com uma entidade de médicos ingleses, os carros da escuderia italiana estariam fazendo apologia à marca de cigarros Marlboro, que estampou os monopostos da equipe italiana até 2005, quando propagandas de cigarros foram proibidas em eventos esportivos. Dona da marca, a Philip Morris tem um acordo com o time italiano que gira em torno de 700 milhões de libras, quase R$ 2 bilhões e que se encerra ao fim de 2011.
De acordo com o jornal "The Times", o porta-voz da Comissão de Saúde Pública Europeia, John Dalli, considera que as cores utilizadas no carro da escuderia de Maranello representam uma mensagem subliminar que leva ao consumo dos cigarros Marlboro. Dalli pediu aos governos da Espanha e Inglaterra - países europeus que receberão as próximas provas do Mundial de F-1 - para que investiguem se isso está de acordo com a lei.
Em nota, a Ferrari descartou qualquer semelhança entre o design de seus carros e uma caixa de cigarros. De acordo com um porta-voz da equipe italiana, isso faz parte da concepção do carro. Além disso, o representante do time justificou que o código de barras é parte do 'uniforme' da equipe, e não de uma campanha com mensagens subliminares.
